This season I have spotted a few crochet items on the runways but whether crochet is in or out matters not to me as I am obsessed regardless. In fact, I have amassed a pretty good sized crochet collection. It all started with a random urge to check out a thrift store I had never been in before on my way home from somewhere. I found a beautiful hand crocheted dress for less than ten dollars. The store was going out of business and liquidating everything. The dress was amazing! Two layers of pink crocheted netting with green leaves and 3D floral designs ( I will probably post a photo at some point on this blog). And so the search began….and now I need a crochet intervention. I am particularly fond of Lim’s hand crochet designs from the 80’s and 90’s. I have seen similar patterns by top designers such as Ralph Lauren a few years ago and Valentino recently.
I found this beautiful bubblegum pink two piece set on ebay. I styled it with a beaded Anthropologie sash belt, Zara leaf heels a vintage beaded bracelet, cloisonné earrings and wicker purse and Crap eyewear sunglasses. I love the weight of crochet, how it hangs and moves on the body and the detail and handwork that goes into making these items.
I wore a poppy colored slip underneath to make the design pop and add some contrast. I love twirling in it. I switched up the sunglasses during the shoot to see what style I prefer with this dress.
Here I am wearing some vintage cat eye shades (similar here). I also had a little photo bomber running in and out during the shoot, cute little rascal.
I also recently acquired the dress below for my collection. I styled it with the same bright poppy colored vintage slip to make the crochet pattern pop. I am also wearing Zara earrings, Sole Society mules, Quay sunglasses a vintage raffia hat, vintage ostrich leather belt and vintage wooden barn purse.
