I just wanted to show you a very quick and easy way to lengthen a dress while adding a little flair to the hem. I bought this dress from Anthropologie because I loved the wrap design and lightweight cotton shirting fabric for Spring and Summer. However, it was way to short for comfort on my 5″10″ frame. Also, I prefer to dress more modestly, so I decided to add some trim to the hem. I went to Joann fabrics and bought 5 yards of pleated lace trim on sale (similar here). I also scored the dress on sale, so the total cost for the trim and the dress were less than the original price of the dress! I simply sewed the trim onto the hem by pinning the trim under the hem and topstitching along the bottom stich line on the dress. I think it looks better than before. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below.
