Stripes and Shirtdresses

A huge trend this season is the shirtdress, especially in striped printed cotton.  I have added a few shirtdresses to my spring and summer wardrobe because they are so versatile and can be dressed up or down.  They are also lightweight, and thus cool to wear on a hot summer day.  I love striped patterns especially because the juxtaposition of the masculine shirting fabrics and the feminine structure is very fresh and lovely.  I found this Veronica Beard dress on the Forward by Elyse Walker website.

I am wearing it with J.Crew statement earrings that I bought a year or two ago similar here.  I styled it with a leather bag in a similar shade for a pop of color and white framed sunglasses from Zara.   I love the ruched asymmetric detailing on this dress in the crisp cotton fabric. I have also seen this dress in white and black at Nordstrom’s.   I also bought this more affordable version for every day wear at Zara (which currently has a myriad of beautiful cotton shirtdresses right now).

I like the knotted detail in the center and the floral on striped print.  I have seen similar dresses such as this one which is currently on sale at ASOS.   I am wearing a vintage woven basket bag and white jade bangle with the knotted dress and Alexander Wang heels with both dresses.
